Transforming Education through Student Insights (TESI)

AI-Powered Student Support, Engagement and Success Initiative

Transforming Education through Student Insights (TESI) is an innovative initiative of BIAM Teachers' Training College (BTTC) aimed at strengthening student support, engagement and success through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven insights and evidence-based interventions. It represents a new beginning for a data-driven, humane, preventive, and student-centered educational support system in Bangladesh.

Because while examination results reveal a student’s past performance, an AI-based Weekly Student Support Report helps educators understand a student’s current situation and identify pathways for future improvement.

At present, student assessment in Bangladesh largely depends on attendance records, examination results, and grade promotion. However, crucial questions often remain unanswered:

·         Why is a student falling behind academically?

·         Why is classroom participation decreasing?

·         Why is interest in learning gradually fading?

·         Why is a student becoming socially isolated?

Unfortunately, such information rarely reaches teachers, parents, or school administrators in a timely manner.

As a result, many challenges are identified only after they have already begun to negatively affect a student’s educational journey.

Recognizing this reality, BIAM Teachers’ Training College (BTTC) has initiated an innovative project titled:

“Transforming Education through Student Insights (TESI)”

Phase One: AI-Based Weekly Student Support Report

In the first phase of the project, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to collect and analyze the following classroom-based indicators:

·         Attendance Analytics

·         Classroom Engagement Analytics

·         Teacher Interaction Analytics

·         Peer Interaction Analytics

·         Classroom Behaviour Analytics

·         Classroom Participation Analytics

·         Behaviour Change Detection

Based on these indicators, a Weekly Student Support Report will be generated for each student.

This is not intended as an evaluation or disciplinary mechanism. Rather, it serves as an Early Support System designed to help students succeed.

A New Support Mechanism for Teachers

Today, teachers are responsible for teaching, assessment, administrative duties, and extracurricular activities while managing classrooms of 40–50 students or more.

Consequently, it is extremely difficult to consistently monitor the behavioural and participation-related changes of every student.

The AI-Based Weekly Student Support Report will help teachers identify:

·         Students whose attendance is declining;

·         Students whose classroom participation is decreasing;

·         Students who may be becoming socially isolated;

·         Students exhibiting significant behavioural changes;

·         Students who require priority attention and supportive conversations.

As a result, teachers will be able to make evidence-based decisions rather than relying solely on observation or assumptions, allowing them to focus their limited time on students who need support the most.

Enabling Effective Decision-Making for School Administration

The project will provide school administrators with insights beyond examination results by presenting a comprehensive picture of students’ educational engagement.

Administrators will be able to identify:

·         Classes with increasing absenteeism;

·         Classes with low participation levels;

·         Areas where social isolation is more prevalent;

·         Teaching strategies that are producing positive outcomes;

·         Areas requiring additional institutional support.

This will contribute to more informed, data-driven, and effective school management.

A New Perspective for Parents

Most parents currently know whether their children attend school and how they perform in examinations.

However, they often do not know:

·         Whether their child is attentive in class;

·         How effectively the child interacts with teachers;

·         The quality of relationships with peers;

·         The level of participation in learning activities.

The Weekly Student Support Report will provide parents with a timely and realistic understanding of their child’s educational experience, enabling them to offer more effective support when needed.

A Supportive System for Students

One of the most distinctive features of this initiative is that it is designed to support students rather than judge them.

Through the report, students themselves will be able to understand:

·         Areas for personal growth and improvement;

·         Progress in participation and engagement;

·         Areas requiring greater attention and effort.

This process will help strengthen students’ self-awareness, confidence, and sense of responsibility toward learning.

A New Dimension in Teacher Training at BTTC

For the first time, this initiative will enable the practical impact of teacher training programs to be measured systematically.

BTTC will be able to determine:

·         How effectively trained teachers are performing;

·         Which teaching strategies are improving student outcomes;

·         Which training modules generate the greatest impact.

As a result, BTTC will further strengthen its role as an Evidence-Based Teacher Training Institution.

National Significance for Improving Educational Quality

The true quality of education cannot be measured solely through examination results.

It also depends on:

·         Student engagement;

·         Active participation;

·         Social and interpersonal skills;

·         Teacher-student relationships;

·         A positive classroom environment.

This project will create opportunities to measure these critical indicators systematically and objectively for the first time.

Direct Contribution to SDG 4

The initiative will directly support the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), particularly:

·         SDG 4.1: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote effective learning outcomes for all;

·         SDG 4.5: Eliminate disparities in education and ensure equal access to learning opportunities;

·         SDG 4.c: Increase the supply of qualified and professionally trained teachers.

The project will contribute to achieving tangible progress in these areas through evidence-based interventions.

Foundation for a Future National Education Dashboard

If this model is gradually expanded across educational institutions throughout Bangladesh, it will become possible to develop a national-level, data-driven understanding of:

·         Student participation;

·         Educational engagement;

·         Attendance patterns;

·         Social connectedness.

Such insights could open new opportunities for educational planning, policymaking, resource allocation, and continuous quality improvement across the national education system.

“Transforming Education through Student Insights (TESI)” is more than an AI initiative. It is a vision for a future where every student is understood, supported, and empowered to succeed.

By combining technology, educational research, and human-centered support, BTTC aims to pioneer a transformative model that strengthens teachers, empowers parents, supports students, and contributes to the development of a more inclusive, effective, and prosperous education system in Bangladesh.
