PROJECT PROPOSAL
Bangladesh Global HealthBridge Foundation
Project Title
Teacher Capacity Development for Student Mental & Physical Wellbeing in Bangladesh
Executive Summary
Bangladesh Global HealthBridge Foundation proposes a comprehensive teacher capacity development initiative aimed at improving student mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing within educational institutions across Bangladesh.
In many classrooms, students struggle to learn effectively due to emotional stress, mental health challenges, poor physical wellbeing, social pressures, and lack of supportive learning environments. However, many teachers have limited training in identifying and responding to these conditions before classroom instruction begins.
This project seeks to strengthen teachers’ professional skills through specialized training programs focused on student-centered learning, emotional readiness, mental wellbeing awareness, physical health sensitivity, and compassionate classroom practices.
The project will also promote health awareness, preventive healthcare education, and community engagement to support healthier learning environments and sustainable educational outcomes.
Background & Problem Statement
Bangladesh continues to make significant progress in expanding access to education. However, many students continue to face barriers that negatively affect learning outcomes, including:
Emotional stress and anxiety
Mental health challenges
Poor nutrition and physical health
Lack of supportive classroom environments
Limited teacher training on student wellbeing
Social and family-related pressures
Traditional teaching approaches often focus primarily on academic instruction while overlooking students’ mental, emotional, and physical readiness to learn.
As a result, many students experience:
Low classroom participation
Reduced confidence

There is an urgent need for teacher training programs that help educators better understand student wellbeing and create compassionate, inclusive, and effective learning environments.
